Over the last year and a half or so the honeybee has been in the news. The
big question is "Where are all the honeybees going?" Most people don't
care to have bugs around, so it might not be a big concern for some. However, if
you like food, and most of us find it necessary, this issue might be important
to you.
CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder), as it has been called, is the big issue at
hand. CCD rears it's ugly head when what would have been a normal, healthy hive
dwindles to a nearly to completely empty hive. This happens at an alarming
rate. What was a healthy hive may be completely empty within a week to a few
days.
The reasons behind the disorder are many. Most with some validity, and others
that...let's say requires a bit more "open mindedness" or
"imagination."
Some of the ideas are: Cell phones, GM (Genetically Modified) plants,
Insecticides, Stress, Malnourished bees, Weather, and as goofy as it sounds,
Alien activity. Yup, its a suggestion that has come up.
None of these are conclusive.
There are some great articles available, and much more information that will
be posted.
